Why you'll like it
- Fast: a few passes per slot
- Guided slots: the angle is set for you, so every pass is consistent
- Knives and scissors: a dedicated slot keeps kitchen scissors cutting smoothly
- Simple on/off switch: easy for anyone, from beginners to grandparents
- USB powered: the cord plugs into any USB wall adapter, like a phone charger
- Compact and light: stores easily in a drawer or under the cabinet
Sharpen only what the knife needs
Not every knife needs the full treatment. Most everyday knives haven't lost their edge, they've just lost their bite, and a few passes through the fine slot is enough to refine the edge and bring it back.
- Coarse slot: for knives that are truly dull, nicked or haven't been sharpened in a long time. It rebuilds the edge.
- Fine slot: for regular touch-ups. It refines the edge and is the one you'll use most.
- Polishing slot: for a final smooth finish after sharpening, or a quick refresh between touch-ups.
- Scissors slot: for kitchen scissors only.
Start with the gentlest slot that gets the job done. Using the coarse slot more than needed removes extra steel and shortens the life of your knife.
Works with
Stainless steel straight-edge knives: chef's knives, slicing knives, cleavers and utility knives, plus kitchen scissors. Not for serrated knives (like bread knives) or ceramic blades.
Designed for everyday kitchen knives. For high-end Japanese knives, very hard steel or heirloom blades, we recommend a professional sharpening service.
How to use
- Plug the USB cord into a wall adapter and flip the switch on.
- Hold the sharpener steady with one hand. With the other, pull the knife slowly through the slot you need, from heel to tip, a few passes at a time. No pressing needed.
- Wipe the blade clean and test it on a tomato. If it glides through the skin, you're done.
Using it safely
A freshly sharpened knife cuts more easily than the one you're used to, so a little extra care goes a long way.
- Set the sharpener on a flat, dry, stable surface and hold it by its body, away from the slots.
- Pull the blade through smoothly in one direction. Don't force it, saw back and forth, or press down.
- Keep your fingers clear of the edge, and take care wiping and handling the blade after sharpening.
- Switch off and unplug before cleaning. Keep it away from water.
- For adult use only. Keep the sharpener and sharpened knives out of reach of children.
- Only sharpen the blade types listed above.
Knives are sharp tools and should always be handled with care. Kolveth is not responsible for injuries or damage caused by misuse, by sharpening unsupported blades, or by not following these instructions.
Keeping it clean
Sharpening leaves fine metal dust inside the slots. Every few uses, switch the sharpener off and unplug it, then tip it over a trash can and tap out the dust, or sweep the slots with a small dry brush. Don't rinse it with water.
